:: REIKI

In the west, Reiki (‘ray - key’) has become known as the word describing the Usui system of natural healing. This is a gentle but powerful treatment, which does not purport to replace conventional medicine but may complement it.

The Five Reiki Principles
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Today, I will count my blessings.
Today, I will do my work honestly
Today, I will be kind to all living things. (Usui)

Reiki & The Chakra

The word Chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning wheel or disk. It is representative of the spiralling motion of energy as it flows into each Chakra point on the body. Seven Major Chakras are used for Reiki.

When all Chakras are spinning in harmony with each other, we are in a state of balance and maintain physical, emotional and mental well-being.

If one or more of the Chakras becomes unbalanced; blocked; changes speed or direction, perhaps as a consequence of the stresses and strains we encounter in daily living, then we may present real physical, emotional or mental symptoms of ill health.

It is thought that harmony and balance can be achieved through balancing or unblocking Chakra, using a number of techniques, including Reiki.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki is thought to be channelled through practitioners to where the Universal Healing Energy is needed.

Reiki energy has its own intelligence so it goes where it is most needed, according to individual requirements.

Reiki can help with many physical or emotional conditions but especially:
  • Relief of stress - relaxation
  • Boosting immune support
  • Reducing aches & pains
  • Re - balancing body systems
  • Promoting well-being

The Reiki Session

You will be asked to fill in a brief questionnaire to ensure that Reiki is a suitable therapy for you. This also gives you the opportunity of letting your therapist know of any particular area of concern, emotional or physical; that you feel you might need help with.

The treatment will be explained to you and you will be made comfortable, fully clothed, either seated or laid on a couch and asked to relax.

Your Reiki treatment will then start and Reiki energy will be channelled towards each of your major Chakra points for a few minutes.

At the end of your treatment you will be asked to drink some fresh water.

It is advisable not to have a large meal or any alcohol before receiving your treatment.

Try to plan for a relaxing period after your treatment, if at all possible.

Each Reiki session is individual but an hour is usual so that the health questionnaire can be completed and any queries or discussion can take place afterwards.
